Antibody Testing

In general terms, COVID Nasal Swab Test+ indicates active infection and still the most contagious to others. COVID Blood Antibody Test IgG+ indicates previous infection and developed protecting antibodies. This is a new virus, so we are not yet sure if this provides complete or partial protection. The duration of protection is also unknown – whether it is months or possibly lifelong protection like chickenpox. It should provide some protection for a period of time, but we honestly do not yet know for how long. So be careful about using “completely immune” to describe your status.
